The Virtual Reality Museum of Norfolk – it’s the museum, you, our EDP readers, created and now it is becoming… a virtual reality! ANGI KENNEDY reveals the exciting future for this website of all that’s great about Norfolk.

YOU DESIGNED IT AND NOW WE ARE BUILDING IT. The Virtual Museum of Norfolk is becoming a major new website, an online museum showcasing the cream of the county as chosen by you.

In a groundbreaking new project that has brought together the EDP and Norfolk Country Council, using European funding, an interactive and inspiring website is being set up containing all that’s great about life here.

Pete Waters, EDP deputy editor, said: “The usability and creative work by Affinity’s Jon Carey is superb and people will have a lot of fun discovering what’s online. I really hope that, in time, this website can become a valuable tool for research, education and tourism both in the county and for those outside who want to discover not only what a fantastic part of the world we live in but also our rich heritage.”

It is based on the concept of a real museum that visitors can navigate their way around, visiting rooms themed on the 10 categories that EDP readers were asked to vote on.

The website is being created by the team of designers at Affinity in Norwich. Managing director Max Edwards commented “It’s been a fascinating experience. We are hoping that what we have produced will be engaging for users and the fact that it is going to be a living, growing thing with the public getting involved and adding content is a wonderful idea.”
